After completing his Bachelors degree in Physics from Govt Brennen College, Thallasery with a Kerala University first rank, Dr K Gopinath found his interests diverted to serving the needy people around him. He went ahead to complete his MBBS and further diploma in Ophthalmology from Calicut Medical college and served the Kerala Health Services for over 25 years. Post retirement from the Kerala health services, he has been practicing as a consultant Ophthalmologist in Ramdas Clinic & Nursing home since 2002. Dr Gopinath is also trained in Intra ocular lens implantation surgery from Arvind Eye Hospital, Madurai.

He is now actively involved in various IMA programs directed towards the welfare of the elderly community in Malappuram. He has also served a term each, as the president of KGMOA, Malappuram, IMA, Malappuram and KSOS, Malappuram.
